Why did you decide to get certified in financial counseling?
Financial education is something that a lot of people have limited knowledge about. When people are more educated, they’re more in control of their budgeting and spending habits. I wanted to help people take control of their finances and stop living in the restricted world of paycheck to paycheck.
What has been your favorite part about being a financial counselor?
My favorite part has been educating members on ways to save and budget. Seeing them take what they learned and put it to work—and then the excitement they feel when it clicks—it makes me feel like I’m really helping people toward a better life.
What financial advice would you give to those trying to take control of their finances?
Sometimes bad things can happen to good people—and you didn’t get to where you are overnight. Fixing your finances and getting on track won’t happen overnight. It takes time, and it takes patience—but you CAN get there and start living with more financial freedom. It’s a marathon, not a sprint.
