We value our members’ financial safety and security. In our continuous efforts to help protect member information, please be aware of the most common scams:
Associated Credit Union
We’ll never contact you to request sensitive information. If you receive any communication from “Associated Credit Union” that seems questionable, call us immediately at 770-448-8200.
- Account: Don’t respond to emails that claim your account is “blocked” or “locked” and request you call or click a link.
- Information: Don’t provide your financial or personal information (username, password, date of birth, Social Security Number, account number, debit or credit card or security question information).
- Zelle: Only make transactions with people you know and trust. Don’t respond to verification calls or texts if you didn’t make a transaction. If you did make a transaction, you may receive a verification text from 767-666.
If we detect possible fraud on your account, you will receive an automated call from 866-890-7787 to verify your recent debit card transactions or 855-921-2515 to verify your recent credit card transactions.
Financial Lenders
Don’t provide your Online Banking account or login information if you apply for a personal loan with a company that offers payday loans, personal lines of credit, etc.
Social Media
Use caution and verify sellers if you make purchases through social media.
Utility Providers
Don’t send money to utility providers via money payment apps. Call the phone number on their website if you receive a call about a past due bill.
Safety Tips
Fraudsters and scammers pretend to work for organizations you know, present a prize or problem, pressure you to act immediately, and insist you pay in a specific way. However, you can protect yourself and your family from fraudsters and scammers:
- Remain aware of frauds and scams
- Resist any pressure to act immediately
- Block unwanted phone calls and text messages
- Don’t pay unknown people with a gift card or money transfer app
- Don’t provide your financial and personal information to unknown people
- Report frauds and scams to the Federal Trade Commission
